Customer: When it rains heavily, a part of our basement carpet gets wet. Should I be concerned about mold?

BRBL TECH: If your basement walls are finished you might see stains or black marks on the drywall. Before any work is done, schedule to have a BRBL Tech examine the area that is causing the leak. It could be a simple crack repair that can be done for a few hundred dollars. Drywall is an inexpensive product that can be easily replaced.

Customer: We have lived in our home in West Chester for 11 years. I noticed some of the brick around the garage door is showing cracks like stair steps. I don't think it is getting worse but wanted to know if this is something I should be concerned about?

BRBL TECH: Usually within the first year of construction you may see some initial settling of the foundation. As time passes, erosion or poor construction can cause the foundation to fail and it becomes evident by the cracks in your brick or at times, interior cracks or doors and windows not operating properly. I would suggest that a qualified BRBL Tech come and do an initial inspection at no charge. They can assess the damage and determine whether a Structural engineer needs to be consulted. You are welcome to text me a picture but a proper evaluation needs to be done on-site with measuring instruments.

Customer: We were given a quote to Waterproof our basement by a company that advertised on TV. It seemed to be expensive ( over $20,000) but he said if we signed right away he could discount the price by $2,000. I told him I was not comfortable to sign until I get other offers. What does BRBL do to asses this sort of situation?

BRBL TECH: We offer free estimates and a 20-30 minute inspection on the type of repairs needed. Basement waterproofing systems are universal in the idea of a French drain trench along the perimeter and a sump pump. Our interior drain system carries a lifetime warranty and costs around $6,900 up to 100 lineal feet of perimeter walls. Give us a call and we will evaluate your problem included mitigation of outside water sources like bad downspouts or poor grading, that may be a simpler repair.

Customer: My name is Raymond and I bought an older home in Madisonville. I am getting water in a corner near my electric panel but the downspout goes under the sidewalk and I think that’s the problem of why it is not draining correctly. What are your thoughts?

BRBL TECH: Hi Raymond, older homes generally used clay or other hard materials for downspouts that could have collapsed over time. It is good idea to investigate if this is your problem or if there is a foundation crack that needs repaired. You can call us and let us know the type of foundation you have, wether concrete block or stone. Not sure? No problem! We can send someone by to take a look for you. Different foundation types are going to need solutions that a foundation expert can help you evaluate.
